An MRI scan is a safe and painless test that uses magnets and radio waves to create detailed pictures of the inside of your body. You will lie on a comfortable table that slides into a large, open-ended tube. The machine makes tapping or humming sounds during the scan, but this is completely normal. You will be given earplugs or headphones to make you more comfortable. It’s important to stay still while the images are taken, and our staff will communicate with you throughout the procedure. Some scans may require a contrast dye, which will be explained if needed. Most MRI appointments take between 30 and 45 minutes, and your doctor can review the images once the scan is complete.
